Which Cold Calling Script Fits Your Next Call?
See what to say to a fleet manager, an IT hiring manager or a shipping lead.
Quick comparison
What do you need to find out?
01 / Fleet repair
When a fleet already has a body shop
A body shop is calling a fleet manager to find out who chooses the repair shop when a van needs bodywork.
Body shop“When one of your vans needs bodywork, do you choose the shop locally, or does head office handle that?”
Fleet manager“We already have a shop.”
Body shop“”
If they can use a backup
“Which vans would you send us first?”
If the shop can handle those vehicles, ask who approves a first estimate. Offer an introduction to the shop manager once you know there’s a fit.
If head office owns the list
“Who handles repair vendors for your depot?”
If the approved list is closed, thank them and end the call. Record what they told you about the vendor list.
02 / IT staffing
When a hiring manager has an open IT role
An IT recruiter saw a contract network administrator opening. The first question checks whether the person who answered owns that hire.
IT recruiter“I saw the contract network administrator role in [City]. Are you the one hiring for it?”
Hiring manager“Yes. We still need someone who can handle the cutover.”
IT recruiter“”
If they describe the work
“Can you bring in an outside recruiter for that role?”
If they can, use what you just learned in the second ask. “Would ten minutes on Thursday work to go over the cutover and the start date?”
If the role is filled
“Thanks for letting me know. I’ll take that role off my list.”
If talent acquisition owns an open role, ask who manages contract suppliers and how they prefer to hear from recruiters.
03 / Email follow-up
When your first sales email went unanswered
A courier rep is making the first phone call after an email about late pickups. The shipping lead needs a specific answer for one depot.
Courier rep“I sent you a note about late pickups. We collect parcels after your usual courier leaves. What happens to orders that miss pickup?”
Shipping lead“Just send me your Friday cutoff.”
Courier rep“”
If they name the depot
“I’ll check the latest Friday pickup for that depot and email it to you.”
Confirm the address, check with dispatch and send the time you verified. Record an email request.
If everything can wait until morning
“Sounds like your morning pickup covers it. Thanks for taking my call.”
Close the call there. A meeting belongs on the calendar when the buyer agrees to a date and time.
